⚠️ SECURITY ALERT

Threat Identification

Post 1: Wrench Attacks / Physical Security Risk

Social engineering via physical theft or 'wrench attacks' where criminals target visible high-profile holders through public social media profiles and data leaks.

Post 2: Fake Purchase Scams on OpenSea
A form of smart contract manipulation/social engineering where scammers mimic purchases from famous wallets (artists/collectors) to create false demand ($FOMO$) before a possible rug pull.

Red Flags

  • High visibility in the market due to large enough holdings for kidnapping or home invasion targets.
  • OpenSea labels showing "Purchased" but certain heavy gas fees being paid by an address unrelated to the supposed owner.
  • Sudden, unexpected activity in well-known way (e.g., Andron or TMA receiving collections they did not actually buy).

Actionable Defense - What To Do & NOT To Do

For General Holders

  • Do check your offline security if you are highly active online (more exposure = higher risk).
  • Observe that even as crypto grows, risks like kidnappings increase with average losses reaching $2.39M per incident.

For NFT Traders / Marketplace Users

  • Always verify transactions **on-chain** rather than relying solely on marketplace UI tags ("Bought", etc.).
  • Check who really sent and paid the gas fee (the actual buyer vs. the target wallet).
  • NOT TO DO: Do not blindly trust demand spikes/volume without checking eyes-only transaction data. * // Avoid FOMO before mints caused by fake social proofing or volume manipulation.

Audit Focus / Statistics Summary

  • CertiK logged 52 confirmed wrench attacks in H1 2026 up 33% YoY.
  • Total theft loss jumped from $10.5M to $124.1M a tenfold increase properly flagged for monitoring.
  • Europe accounts for 75% of these incidents ($33$ out of $52$).

Final Warning

Do NOT rely only on visibility; always confirm heavy activity via direct way, especially when using marketplaces like OpenSea. Verify every purchase on-chain!
